Mermaid School & Sacred Dance Retreat

1) Q. When is the retreat?   

A. RETREAT DATES: March 20th -27th 2025 ( 7 days and 6 nights )

Check-in on March 20th at 11:00 am (You can check in any time after 11 am. ( On Arrival day please arrive no later than 6 pm Costa Rica time so you can settle in and join us for welcome dinner.)

Check-Out March 27th at 11:00 am Breakfast and goodbyes 

  • For the best experience at the Siren Sanctuary Retreat, we recommend arriving a day early and leaving a day later than the retreat dates. Travel to Playa Chiquita can be unpredictable due to possible flight delays and road closures, so these extra days will give you time to settle in and fully embrace the retreat experience. Arriving early also lets you relax, explore the area, and immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings before diving into the retreat’s activities.

  • We’re pleased to offer discounted rates of $100 per night for additional nights outside of the retreat dates.

3) Q. Do you need previous Mermaid (swimming) or Bellydance (dance) experience?

A. All levels of experience are welcome. Basic Swimming experience is a must. Those who are more advanced will be supported as well as those who are just getting started.

MEALS: At the Siren Sanctuary Retreat Center, guests will be treated to vibrant, organic, plant-based breakfasts featuring fresh tropical fruits, energizing smoothies, and warm, freshly baked local bread. While lunches will occasionally be provided, the highlight of the culinary experience will be a special final goodbye dinner, celebrating the flavors of the region with a delicious and health-conscious feast that perfectly concludes the retreat.

9) Q. What are the accommodations at Siren Sanctuary?                   

All rooms are shared Double rooms each with its own bed and en-suite bathroom are shared between 2 people. ) Each villa feels like a family home, with its own private kitchen. If you & a close friend joining & would like to house together, please let us know. rooms available if you have a group that would like to house together please email us directly.”


10 ) Q. Do I need travel insurance?

  1. Yes, We highly recommend travel insurance & make sure your passport is up to date. :)

  2. You are highly encouraged to purchase CFAR (cancel for any reason insurance) in case anything should prevent you from attending. "Cancel for any reason Travel Insurance". It needs to be purchased 20 days after your initial deposit.

    If you choose not to protect yourself, that is your own risk.

11) Q. What Currency is accepted?

USD is recommended: Most establishments will take USD currency 

USD dollars but bring small denominations. Bring small denominations as larger bills may not be accepted in smaller establishments. $5, $10, $20. Some places won't accept $100 notes. They will give change in local colones.   

ATM cards will only be at some establishments Credit and debit cards can be used in most restaurants and stores.

You can also currency exchange at the airport into Colones


12 ) Q. Who can attend the Retreat ?

All Participants must be 18 and up.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race or color, gender or gender expression, sexual orientation, body type, or age. Anyone who identifies with the feminine and is called to join our Merfolk community is welcome.


13) Q. WHAT TO BRING:

*Passport / Travel Insurance

*A pretty bikini top or mermaid bra top

* Please let us know if you plan on bringing your own mermaid tail and monofin (if not you may request a rental from us no later than Feb 1st)

* Please bring a snorkel dive mask. This is required for underwater training. It should be the type that covers the eyes and nose. EXAMPLE: https://tinyurl.com/snorklemask ( Full face masks are not advisable. Swim goggles that only cover the eye are not advisable. )

*Comfortable stretchy yoga/dance clothing - leggings/tank tops/coin belts are welcome

*Personal small towel/beach blanket/ Sarongs work best :)

*Beach bag / Sunglasses and cap/sunhat to keep the sun off your face.

*Water bottle (no glass please)

*Swimsuit/Bikini for water training

*Hot weather clothing - shorts/ summer dresses, tank tops. Also bring a few long-sleeved tops for evenings or cooler days, or for warming up after swimming.

*Flip flops, Sandals, good walking shoes ( No need for boots or heels )

*Herbal supplements/medication

* Sunscreen (ocean-friendly), moisturizer, mosquito repellant, toiletries, toothbrush, haircare

*Makeup (for mermaid photoshoots) **WATERPROOF MASCARA is essential. The rest of the makeup will stay in place reasonably well underwater unless you wipe your face. Powder and sunscreen are a must, If you want to use glitter, please make sure it is bio-degradable & cruelty-free.

* If you wish to add any wigs, headpieces, or crowns, make sure they can be tied on securely, and bring lots of hairpins and ties. You will need more than you think!

All aspects of the retreat are optional. Each day there will be free time.

6 Days of mermaid and sacred dance training 

  • 7:30 –8:30 AM – Meditation &  Yoga Practices  or snorkel beach

  • 9:00 Breakfast

  • 10:30 – 12:30 PM – Daily workshops - Fusion Belly Dance Techniques

  • 1:00 PM - Lunch

  • 2:00 - 4:00 - Daily workshops - Underwater training

  • 4:00 – 6:00 PM - Free time/spa/pool etc /adventures /outings

  • 6:30 - Dinner

  • 7:30 – 8:30 PM – Evening Circle / Free time
